Why fixed fuel prices are a good choice for consumers

CARECO believes fixed price contracts are the best way to protect your family's budget.

Benefits of CARECO fixed price contracts:

With a fixed price CARECO heating oil contract, you will not be gouged by oil companies, interuptible gas users, and market speculators. You will pay the same price all year, regardless of world events.There's no magic to it. Your heating oil supply is guaranteed by the New York Mercantile Exchange (NYMEX). The days of purchasing heating oil on a "spot" basis are now part of history, along with other relics of the prior century. Smart consumers can now have their energy supply guaranteed.

What about "CAPPED" prices?

CARECO does not offer "capped" oil prices for several reasons. Cap prices are often more expensive because the oil supplier must purchase insurance in case the price drops. So you may need to pay higher costs for your oil. Some suppliers may opt not to insure the downside, and risk financial trouble by doing so. They may also opt not to lower their prices.

Additionally, oil companies that use "cap" prices can basically charge whatever they want. There is no fair standard to set the price. It would be up to the oil supplier to determine when the price should go to the maximum "cap", and when to lower the price. For these reasons, and because neither CARECO or its members would be able to control the price, CARECO does not endorse cap style pricing.
